CairnBronze

The CairnBronze Legend

On special occasions, Charmers give awards to those who have been both ardent and earnest in helping the community. Rather than give a bronze plaque, they have a bronze replica made of the person they are honoring. Bronze statues have been associated with achievement since Greek and Roman times, and bronze medallions are still widely used to commemorate events (such as the Olympics!) and to honor select individuals. To give an award to a friend is a pleasure; to receive one from a friend is an honor.

HONOREES:

FOREST – For his role as leader of the clan, thoughtful guide and conscientious organizer… for his consideration of all co-workers… for being the protector of each individual’s person and rights.

LIL’ CLARENCE – For constant thought and attention to his charges… for his bedside manner… for his overseeing protection, especially of the young … for being a guardian angel!

СHOO CHOO – For his leadership in travel and touring … for pulling his own weight….for his adventurous spirit….for enthusiastically taking others along with him.

WE DO— For total commitment to the wedding vows… for their celebration of the joint endeavor to share a life together always thinking in terms “we” rather than “I”.

1-2-GO – For keeping the spirit of Santa alive all year long….for his cheerfulness, generosity and kindness … for his willingness to work until the job is done.

HARESAY – For fostering friendship and harmony among all the creatures in the forest… for always keeping an open mind… for knowing that a stranger is just a friend you haven’t yet met.

BEST FRIENDS – For a lifetime of devotion and friendship ..for always being a friend when a friend is in need … for sharing and caring… for knowing that best friends are forever.

HONEYMOONERS – For showing that marriage is a journey, not a destination… for always striving to see the other’s point of view… for never being in too big a hurry to hold tight to each other.

LEO — For leadership, courage and bravery… for being strong in the face of adversity and for standing firm in his faith… for protecting and looking after the welfare of not only his family, but the whole animal kingdom as well.

TARDY — For realizing that life is too short to take for granted… for noticing and appreciating the little things in life …for stopping to smell the roses.

GIMME A KISS — For his perseverance and patience… for his willingness to “stick it out” even when it seems all is for naught … for knowing that good things come to those who wait.

CairnBronze Lost Wax Casting Process

Cairn’s Lost Wax Bronze Castings – The most accurate and still the most popular method for casting bronze is the cire perdu or lost wax technique. It was known in Egypt by about 1570 B.C. and developed further by the Chinese and later by the Greeks. Although the lost wax method for casting bronze is basically the same today, Cairn Studio further refined the process to an art form. Cairn artists created their original models in a hard material and then formed a mold in sections over the original creation. The “piece-mold” was removed from the original and a layer of wax was poured into the reassembled mold (the negative impression) with the core being filled with refractory material after the wax was melted out. After each piece was hand-cast, several special polishing and buffing techniques were used to refine and enhance the bronze finish. This finished look was either left natural and hand-sealed or color-accented with a special tinting technique. CairnBronze artworks was a very limited edition line and followed an accelerated retirement schedule, with retirements beginning immediately after the first introductory year.
